There is a lot to be said about semantics, about names or labels. People try to distinguish between a prayer, a spell, or simply a wish but if one would think about it, what matters is the intent behind it - the visualization behind it.
Visualization, imagining it, thinking about it, dreaming about it somehow makes it a reality and this is the tenet of positive thinking - this is the secret talked about by Rhonda Byrne. And yet, it is visualization that Scott Cunningham and other Wiccan authors consider as part of spell making or spell casting!
In terms of visualization, I dreamt about topping the CPA Board exam and it did happen! Now, if someone would argue that it is not true, that it does not work, well I would agree - it would not always work for everyone, or for all the wishes, dreams, or prayers of a person. We are all psychics, we all have some magical power within us - its a question of how strong that talent or gift is in us. Thus perhaps, some simple wishes, spells, or prayers happens and some does not.
Me, I am a diabetic and along with that are certain complications. Now, I suffer from a frozen shoulder thus I am no longer as flexible as before. When I shower every morning, I utter this words in my mind or out loud:
Water, water cleanse my body well
Water, water heal my body well
Why water? I guess being born a catholic I am not comfortable in calling other gods or goddesses, and if there would be some doubt in me - it definitely would not work. But I believe in the elements and since I use water to shower and clean my body, why not ask it to heal me likewise? Faith works. Just finished my doctor´s appointment - he says my glucose is not bad, ITS PERFECT!!
