Rituals on a Black Friday

By the Catholic religion, this is the holy week, and today is Black Saturday. I met a Venezuelan witch (hechizero) last year, and I asked that since there is no work perhaps we could go to Mt Avila and pick up herbs - he can teach me about herb lore. He said No on a Black Friday or Black Saturday, any other day, we can but not on these dates. His reason? Christ died on Friday, and thus there is no light, good magic died with Jesus death on the cross.

Huh? I was quiet. And I just said ok. Some other day then.

Do I agree with him? No. In the Philippines, it is on a Black Friday that amulets and charms are tested for efficacy. Lisandro mentioned that with the death of Christ, white magic has died with him, thus it is only black magic, or evil magic that is best done on these days - and since he is a devout catholic witch, patronizing various saints and all, there should be no magic rituals on these said days. I believe that magic exists before christ, the wiccan religion or pagans, believe in magic even prior to the existence of Jesus Christ. I am of the opinion that perhaps the amulets and charms are tested primarily on a Black Friday is because Christ has died - the magic is then not dependent on Christ the Lord, himself. There is magic, there is light prior to Christianity so any magic wrought during those days could not be exactly evil or black immediately, it could be just natural magic...magic wrought by elementals, from nature itself.
